Omega-3:
with recognized anti-inflammatory properties!
Dr Maroon
from the University of Pittsburgh was awarded the prize
for best poster, i.e. the best publication on study results
at the annual meeting of the American Association of Neurological
Surgeons, held last April in New Orleans.
The subject was omega-3 fatty acids…..
Dr Maroon conducted a study of 250 patients suffering from
neck or back pain and administered omega-3 in addition to
their usual treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory
drugs.
In the course of this study:
-
59% of patients were able to discontinue their classic
pain treatment and continue to take only omega-3
-
60% of patients experienced an overall decrease in pain
-
60% of patients experienced a decrease in joint pain
-
80% of patients were satisfied with the improvements
-
88% planned to continue the use of omega-3. No unwanted
side effects were reported during this study
This
study demonstrated that omega-3 fatty acids are as efficient
as Ibuprofen* in reducing joint pain.
This study showed that omega-3 fatty acids are as efficient
as anti-inflammatory drugs in relieving pain, and are safer
and less harmful to the body.
